About Our Boat

Main salon banquette
IMPROV is a 34 ft. power catamaran built by PDQ Yachts in 2005. With a 16' 10" beam, she is a spacious vessel, very comfortable for a cruising couple with room to spare. There are two queen-size berths in separate cabins, a full galley with refrigerator/freezer, microwave/convection oven, cooktop, double sink and plenty of storage. The main salon has a banquette which seats six and can have a dining table or a "coffee table" setup.

One step up, there is the lower helm with a settee across from the helm. The head (bathroom) consists of a toilet, sink/counter area and a full separate shower.

IMPROV is powered by two 75hp Yanmar diesel engines and can cruise at up to 15 knots, although we mostly cruise at a more leisurely pace, giving us around 4 to 5 miles per gallon at 7-8 knots. She carries 184 gallons of fuel in two separate tanks, so her a range, depending on speed, is 800-900 miles. She has a 325 Watt solar system and a diesel generator. Fresh water tankage is 80 gallons and has a 20 gallon per hour watermaker. There are two heater/air conditioners on board.
The exterior of the boat has a spacious foredeck and wide side decks which lead aft to steps down to the water at the end of each pontoon. Steps lead up to the flybridge which has the upper helm and perimeter seating.
At anchor in the Bahamas

Transportation while anchored is provided by a 9' 6" rigid hull inflatable with a 9.9 horsepower outboard motor.
This dinghy rests high and dry on aft davits while underway.

The PDQ 34 is an excellent "coastal cruiser," with economic operation for slow cruising but with the capability of faster speed when needed. She is not a "passagemaker," not designed for extended open water, ocean passages, limited primarily by fuel capacity.
